A lavish anthology of Claude Montana's epoch defining work
French fashion designer Claude Montana played a key role in the fashions of the 1980s and '90s.
All shoulder-pads, razor-sharp tailoring and strong silhouettes, the Claude Montana aesthetic is once more dominating the catwalks, and he has been cited as an important influence by many contemporary designers, including the late Alexander McQueen.
Claude Montana looks at the principles and practices that underpin the Montana universe. It records numerous conversations with Montana himself that reveal the forces and inspirations that have shaped his work, while scores of catwalk images and reproductions of his sketches celebrate the energy and singularity of his vision.
It is a journey punctuated with intimate comments and observations by those who have accompanied the designer at various points along the way - among others the photographers Dominique Issermann, Tyen and Paolo Roversi, the embroiderer François Lesage, the designer Alain Mikli and the make-up artist Olivier Echaudemaison, whose moving testimonies are scattered throughout these pages.
